Teachers, Register for a Free Conference about Teaching English Learners!

Summer is the time when many teachers decompress but it’s also when they have time to participate in professional development.  So I’m excited to invite you to an upcoming virtual conference for educators about empowering English Language Learner students!

The conference will be held on July 14 – July 16 and it’s completely free.  Woo hoo!  Please let your colleagues know about it, too.

The conference is designed to help you explore different engagement strategies and techniques to help your ELL students grow.  You’ll get to hear from expert educators who have successfully implemented these strategies in their classrooms.

Some of the topics that will be covered are:
* Best practices for engaging ELL students
* Strategies for supporting ELL students’ language development
* Techniques for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for ELL students

I’ll be giving a presentation called Teaching Content-Based ESL: Strategies for Integrating Academic Subjects with English Language Development.  It’s all about how you can combine teaching core content, like social studies and science and so on, with teaching English Language Development.  My presentation is aimed at all teachers who teach English Learners, whether they’re in mainstream regular ed classes or ESL classes.

In the meantime, you might like to refresh your knowledge of terminology about teaching English Language Learners by reading this blog post.  I’ll be using some of the terms in my presentation but don’t worry if you don’t have time to read the post in advance — I do explain them in the presentation.

I look forward to seeing you at the conference!
