Don’t Miss Out: 2-Day TPT Back to School Sale!

When I spent my senior year of high school in Sweden, I saw Viking runestones up close and visited places where the Vikings lived.  I so enjoyed learning about the Vikings that, during my first year of college, I even tried teaching myself Old Norse. Read on to find out how you can get 3 Viking resources at a discount during the TPT Back to School Bonus Sale happening August 26-27.

Resources about the Vikings

Fast forward several years to when I was teaching 5th grade Social Studies.  Teaching about the Vikings was part of the Social Studies curriculum but I had a problem: There were few materials my Multilingual Learners of English could actually use.  The regular ed textbook was much too difficult and finding other books and info at my students’ language proficiency level was a challenge.  It was really frustrating.

So I created a Viking curriculum unit that I wish I’d had back then.  It’s designed so all students — and especially English Learners — can engage with the content.  And because many common English words have roots in Old Norse, I made a companion resource about English words that come from that language.  Together, they form a mini bundle that saves you time and makes Viking history accessible and fun for your students.
